Community Responsibility

Our Self-Management System

At the heart of our community is our self-management system, which guides how we organize work, make decisions, and participate as members. This system is built around four clusters: Process & Communication, Grounds, Common Facilities, and Maintenance. Every task and team belongs to one of the clusters.

Every adult resident joins a cluster, where they can contribute in ways that suit their skills and interests. Within each cluster, members have flexibility in how work gets done, with tasks shared or rotated so everyone can try different roles. Community members typically spend 2-4 hours per month on cluster work, in addition to time spent in meetings.

Clusters are focused on getting things done, with collaboration and connection woven into how we work. They also provide a clear way for members to come together on essential policy questions, ensuring every voice is heard in decisions about priorities, budgets, and the direction of our community.

Participation in Community Life

We hold a monthly general meeting with childcare provided, where we handle community business and make decisions together by consensus. Facilitation rotates among members, giving everyone a chance to provide leadership and stay connected.

Together, cluster involvement and general meetings form the backbone of how members engage with and shape community life.
