Design of Our Homes and Community
- How comfortable are you living in a neighborhood with clustered houses and peripheral parking, in order to have a child and pedestrian friendly car-free area?
- Do you feel comfortable with the idea of living in a modest 1- or 2-story duplex or row house that follows a common design, and following a community process to approve structural changes?
- Are you comfortable having a very small private backyard, while having access to a larger portion of shared land?
Community Lifestyle
- Is it appealing to you to live in a mixed-age neighborhood with plenty of families with young children, working-age people, and elders?
- Is it important to you to be a part of a community of people who are committed to similar values including living sustainably with a small environmental impact?
Community Building
- How do you feel about sharing a common house that provides spaces for meals and activities, fosters community and social interaction, and allows greater access to amenities, cost savings, and collaboration?
- We share at least two common meals a week. Are you interested in sharing in both the camaraderie and the workload of common meals?
Healthy Conflict
- Healthy conflict is a natural part of community life. Are you someone who is willing to work things through that affect your daily life with a group of people, many who have similar values but may not agree on everything?
- How flexible are you with accepting differences and apologies or making apologies?
- Can you imagine how your current communication skills could benefit the community and how living in community could improve them?
Community Participation
- Can you picture yourself actively involved in maintaining our neighborhood, and contributing to community-wide discussions around things like use of common spaces, budgets, pets, and parking?
- How would being on committees fit into your schedule? Can you make space in your schedule to share your time and talents as we all work collectively for the welfare of the community?
- What skills do you have that you can imagine sharing with the community?
